Stop-Motion

Course Reflection

As part of Srishti's foundation year I was in the 5 week "Play and Invent" course with Narendra, and true to it's name, we played - and sort of invented. Started off our course with videos and talks from Narendra to get us thinking, not about any specific issue as such, about a lot of things. One of them being re-using/re-cycling//up-cycling waste material. Yes, we have all thought of it, but it's the first time I am actually getting to it and doing something interesting with it. It was a different experience, also the fact that it's all hands on had its on charm to it. Getting your whole body covered with 'papier-mache' can really change ones view on life, not really but it's a lot of fun.
What I realized during the course was that working with waste material does not keep you under any restriction of sorts. By this I mean we have the freedom to do whatever we want with it and not worry about "wasting" the material, because that part has already been done. When we are working with materials we buy; there is this little voice in the back of your head bugging you and putting you under pressure to not waste these precious resources. That feeling is not there with what we used in this class, which gave us more liberty with the resources and as a result our fantasy land was created.
Also, this was the first time I mixed sound on a video, and worked with stop-motion. This has really opened my eyes into a new world of stop motion, I had a lot of fun mixing the audio and taking the photos for the stop-motion video and plan on doing a lot more work in this field.
